Our Team

Our business has been built on organic growth and diversification. We have grown with our customers as we over-deliver on quality and service. Our 17-strong Northgate Foods team, provide an exceptional supply chain solution covering product sourcing, NPD, logistics, data compliance, ingredient info and category management. We are now highly regarded globally as contemporary, value-added speciality food suppliers. By focusing on our collective expertise in the world trade markets, we understand food trends and the needs of our manufacturing, wholesale, retail and food service customers. Maximising international trade opportunities within the global food sector is helping to drive the business and bring shared success to customers of Northgate Foods.

Jonathan Graham and Mark Theobald are Joint Managing Directors of Northgate Foods

Managing Director

Jonathan Graham

Jonathan joined the company in 1990 and became the owner of the business in 1991. It is his vision to make the speciality meat, poultry and seafood business truly international and he has developed strong relationships with customers in the UK, Europe and worldwide to make this a reality. He is responsible for the financial control of the business and overseeing sales strategy, marketing and new product and market development. He has travelled throughout Europe, the Middle East and Asia extensively.

Managing Director

Mark Theobald

Mark joined the business in 1996 taking up a key role in sales, purchasing and marketing, following five years working for a large national pork and bacon company in the UK. He has developed multiple manufacturing and wholesale accounts in the UK and Europe, focusing on the supply of pork before helping to differentiate the range into an expansive selection of meat, poultry and seafood products. He became Sales Director in 2007 and Joint Managing Director in 2015. Mark played a further role in overseeing and securing the BRC Accreditation for the company in 2015 when Northgate Foods become one of the first companies in the UK to achieve BRC Accreditation for Agents and Brokers. Today, he shares overall responsibility for the daily running of the business alongside the other directors but still with the overarching role of enhancing sales and customer service, working with and supporting the team of account managers alongside the logistics, technical and administrative departments.

Commercial Director

Karl Burn

Karl joined Northgate foods in 2009 with a background in wholesale, distribution and trading in frozen and fresh foods. He was made Commercial Director in 2015 and is responsible for the Newcastle office and overseas the buying and sales for the ethnic division within the company. His main responsibilities are buying, branding and marketing for all the products purchased globally for the ethnic sector. He travels extensively to liaise with suppliers and seek out new products and market opportunities for the development of global seafood and poultry sales for the foodservice and retail sector.

Transport & Logistics

We offer transport and logistical solutions to suit both customers and suppliers. With cold stores strategically located across the UK we can provide a full spectrum of freezing, storage, picking and distribution solutions. From a single pallet to full container loads, transportation is as flexible and competitively priced as you need it to be.

And we move food products to locations anywhere. Within the UK, Europe or globally.

Our cold stores and haulage companies conform to all accreditations to cover all stages of your deliveries, so you can place an order and relax. We do single orders, volume deliveries, fast-track deliveries and reliability.

We are responsible for all aspects of the Supplier Approval and Risk Assessment Process ensuring that our customers meet the highest standards of good manufacturing practice within the food industry. Our commitment covers:




1. Approval of supplier sites giving complete assurance on food safety and quality

2. Full product specification from the start of supply

3. Technical assistance given to customers to complete internal processes

4. Advice on technical data and food safety issues

5. All other customer service support

This demonstrates that our quality management systems and standards meet the requirements of the food industry and put us ahead of most of our competitors. This ensures increased confidence in supply chain management, traceability, legal compliance and ultimately consumer protection.
